40,000 shows! I missed the actual odometer clicking over because I was out of town for work. There was some confusion about the 40,000 mark back in November 2006 (See here: http://www.archive.org/iathreads/post-view.php?id=80089 and here: http://www.archive.org/iathreads/post-view.php?id=88918 ) but the numbering system was fixed back then, and now we have truely 40,000 unique live concert experiences people can listen to by 2,446 different bands. All for free. Amazing as always.

When do you guys think we'll hit 50,000 ? My guess is not for another 12-14 months. So ... Memorial Day 2008. Let's place the bets now! :)

My understanding is that 2,446 is the number of bands who have given the Archive permission to host their shows, and that the number of bands who actually have shows on the Archive is somewhat smaller. Unfortunately, I don't know of any easy way to determine that second number.

I calculate that there are 583 bands on the archive without a show uploaded. 1890 with at least 1 show.
